Denison University Administration Building

Creative Studio Architects was commissioned by Denison University to design a new $7M, 22,000-square-foot administration building on the university’s northern campus. We began with a robust engagement phase, conducting workshops and tours with over 100 stakeholders to build a unified vision. The resulting facility is a high-performance office featuring over 10 meeting spaces, a social café, recording studio, technology workrooms, and a strategic blend of private and collaborative workspaces.

To navigate complex site constraints—including a nearby nature preserve, a floodplain, and critical utilities—we engineered a distinctive “zig-zag” footprint. This innovative geometry maximized the buildable area while avoiding costly utility relocations and minimizing environmental impact. The design not only preserves the natural landscape but also creates unique interior vistas and optimizes natural light throughout the office suites.

Despite the project’s technical complexity, CSA delivered the entire visioning workshops, tours, design and construction document package on an accelerated three-month schedule. This rapid turnaround ensured the project remained on track for its Spring 2024 opening, proving that sophisticated, stakeholder-driven design can be achieved under tight institutional deadlines.
