AAA Motor Square Gardens
Modern innovation meets automotive history at the AAA Motor Square Gardens. Creative Studio Architects spearheaded a comprehensive 35,000 sq ft renovation of this landmark’s upper floor, transforming a storied historic structure into a high-performance corporate headquarters. The project required a delicate touch to preserve the building’s architectural soul while integrating the technical infrastructure necessary for a contemporary office environment.
We were tasked with designing a nearly complete renovation of the upper floor of Motor Square Gardens in Pittsburgh, PA. AAA wanted to consolidate nearly all of its staff onto one floor to free up additional space in the building for lease. The renovation added over 50 private offices, centered around natural light and acoustic privacy. It also included an executive board room & conference suite, employee break areas, smaller meeting areas, storage, and updated restrooms. The renovation maintained the existing character of the building in the central atrium, while updating everything beyond the glass storefronts into a modern working environment. The design also incorporated simple color-coded wayfinding elements to ease orientation and wayfinding in the space. We also worked with the Owner’s HVAC vendor to ensure the project did not negatively impact the existing delicate air balance of this expansive building.
